All Star Wars fans currently counting down the days to the release of The Force Awakens are going to need to adjust their calendars: J.J. Abrams’ seventh episode will now open a day earlier, on the December 17 (in the UK at least). Talk about Christmas coming early…
The official Star Wars Facebook page confirmed the new release date, with a video pointing out the rather exciting fact that it’s only 100 days until the most anticipated film of the year opens (again, we have to stress it’s in the UK - the poor folk Stateside still have 101 days to go). In case you were worried it might be a mistake, the admins of the Star Wars Facebook page have been clarifying to disgruntled commenters that the release has come forward.
The Force Awakens will be released in the UK on December 17th. The 100 day countdown starts today!

Whether or not J.J. Abrams will reveal any plot details before the film comes out remains a mystery. The big toy reveal for last week’s #ForceFriday gave little in the way of tangible facts, save for the fact BB-8 will be stealing the film. The title of ‘Coolest Bad Guy’ currently looks set to be a tie between Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie).
Co-starring newbies John Boyega and Daisy Ridley, as well as familiar franchise faces Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, have we mentioned that Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in the UK on December 17 this year?
