Ni-Oh is 11 years late to the party, but a trailer shows it's still on the way

The Last Guardian and Shenmue 3 aren't the only long-dormant games being brought back from seeming death on PlayStation. Samurai action game Ni-Oh was announced way back in 2004 as a launch title for the then-upcoming PlayStation 3, and in the decade since, we've seen almost nothing about it. That was until Koei Tecmo decided to drop this trailer at the Tokyo Game Show as a nice little surprise:

The hyphen is gone and the game is now for PS4, but it looks like the same concept revealed 11 years ago has held strong; based on an unfinished script by Seven Samurai director Akira Kurosawa, Ni-Oh (sorry, Nioh now) tells the tale of a blond-haired samurai - the son of a Japanese lord and woman from the West - facing down hordes of Japanese demons.

Personally, I'd say that hair is so blond it's dang near white, and the protagonist bears more than a passing resemblance to Witcher series hero, Geralt. But borderline copyright infringement is a price I'm willing to pay for what looks like Onimusha meets Dark Souls. The new Nioh is slated for a 2016 release date. For real this time.
