John Boyega comments on Star Wars trailer drop

John Boyega has been speaking about his reactions to the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, describing himself as a fan of the franchise, and responding to those who have raised an eyebrow at the notion of a black Stormtrooper.

“Thank you for all the love and support,” begins the star’s Instagram post. “The fan mail and fan art has added to my joy.”

“Isn’t it crazy that Star Wars is actually happening? I’m in the movie but as a Star Wars fan I am very excited! A year is a long time but it will be worth the wait.”

Finally, Boyega posts a dismissive response to his critics, stating, “To whom it may concern… get used to it,” followed by a smiley face. Classy response to a frankly farcical debate.

Directed by J.J. Abrams and co-starring Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, Lupita Nyong’o and many more, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will open in the UK and US on 18 December 2015.
