Hero: Erica Bain
From: The Brave One, 2007
Hasn't got a superpower but: She's severely traumatized and hopped up on Girl Power.
So what can she do?
Hastily purchase a firearm and wander around horrifying neighborhoods at inappropriate hours. The second anyone slips into anything resembling criminal behavior, she corrects them with a hot lead no-no. Pretty much everything Charles Bronson did in five Death Wish movies, but at least Jodie Foster's easier on the eyes.
Origin:
Erica Bain is a radio blowhard forced to "take it to streets" after a minor scuffle involving her brains getting bashed in and witnessing her boyfriend beaten to death by some urban ruffians. Rather than wallow in her own lady-pity, she channels her traumatic experience into the purchase of a firearm and paints New York red with a little vigilante justice.
So an isolated incident of wayward youth unspools into bloodbath of Bronson-esque proportions. Women, huh? Inner city People of Color aren't the only brunt of Bain's misplaced rage. Sure, plenty of gang members eat death, but a white-collar abuser also gets a crowbar embedded in his skull like a YouTube video.
The Disc:
Both the HD DVD and the Blu-Ray have a twenty minute feature entitled "I Walk the City", some deleted scenes and a Charlie Rose interview your grandparents will go apeshit over.
Trivia:
Here be nude scenes! Featuring Sayid from Lost with a mouthful of Erica's nipple.
