“Character creation is a big part of this too. From the start, you’re given the choice of either jumping right into the game with a pre-made character or creating your own. If you choose to create your own character, the first choice you’ll make is whether they’re male or female. And this won’t just be a visual change. Every line in the game is spoken with full voice-over, so there are male and female versions of every single conversation. And there are entire subplots and sequences that are different if you play as a female versus a male.
“In terms of specifics, you’ll have a lot of control over the training specialization your character has, so you can be a soldier, a tech expert, a master of dark energy powers; and each of these areas opens up special talents and abilities that you can use in and out of combat. Mass Effect also has some aspects of character creation that we haven’t offered before. You’ll be able to shape the face of your hero, through a very detailed proprietary system that allows you to either randomize or custom-tune each feature. And, you’ll be able to make choices about your backstory - what your life has been like and what your military experience has been leading up to the beginning of the game.
