Fading Echo is like single-player Splatoon but with water instead of ink and it's coming next month
Seriously slick and with an all-star cast including Samatha Béart and Matt Mercer
If you're a fan of the Splatoon series we really think you're going to love Fading Echo. This fast-paced action-adventure RPG sees you playing as a character called One, who's able to manipulate - and turn into - water in order to move around.
Handily, as just revealed in the Future Games Show Summer Showcase, Fading Echo just got a July 21, 2026 release date on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, so if you do like the look of it you really don't have long to wait.
What I really love about Fading Echo (and there's a Steam demo to play right now), is that there's so much more about it than just 'simply' turning into a orb of water. There's a speed and power to your movement and how you combine water with your human form.
You can create huge water waves and blasts, mix with toxic waste, lava and something called the Paradox Corruption to trigger chain reactions that can devastate your enemies.
Fading Echo sees the world of Corel being ripped apart by this Paradox Corruption is tearing Corel. It's warping reality, and that means that nothing is ever the same twice. It also means its down to you to try and fix things, but thankfully you'll have some allies helping you along the way.
With an all-star cast bringing this world and its characters to life, including Samantha Béart as One, and Matt Mercer, Jasmine Bhullar, Laura Bailey, Liam O’Brien, and Sam Riegel, this should be quite the adventure.
Fading Echo is out on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X on July 21, 2026, and you can wishlist it right now on Steam, where there's also a demo to play right now.
