Exodus gets its first major gameplay showcase, introducing players to the upcoming sci-fi RPG from the creators of Mass Effect
Exodus, the sci-fi RPG that's dripping with Mass Effect and Interstellar energy, just got its first extended public gameplay showcase as part of the Future Game Show Summer Showcase.
We've seen snapshots of Exodus before, but this is the first time developer Archetype Entertainment - a studio built from talent drawn from the likes of BioWare, Naughty Dog, and 343 Industries - has shown off so much gameplay in one place. The 20-minute showcase, narrated by game director Chris King, guides you through a substantial amount of the game, introducing characters, the game's choice-driven systems (and the inevitable consequences of those choices) as well as plenty of moment-to-moment action and adventure across Exodus' vast galaxy.
If you're not familiar with Exodus, then the showcase will also make plenty of the time dilation that serves as the crux of those aforementioned choices. As protagonist Jun (whose female counterpart also gets teased for the first time as part of the showcase), you'll be diving across the galaxy - but time will pass very differently for you than it does for the people you leave behind. That means the choices you make can ripple across the decades and even centuries as Jun's adventure unravels. And as this is an RPG with plenty of Mass Effect DNA, you can be sure that those choices will have plenty of impact on the cast of companions you'll meet along the way.
Exodus is currently set to release in early 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam (where you can wishlist it now), so it's not quite so far away that you'll need to be diving into a wormhole to wait out its arrival.
