Greak 2 is the next great co-op game for lovers of Unravel, It Takes Two, and even Hollow Knight
Take it from me, it’s getting increasingly hard to find local co-op games you can play with your friends, family, partner, or children from the comfort of your own couch. Luckily, Navegante is here to save the day with their stunning sequel to Greak: Memories of Azur, and are bringing people together in a hand-drawn adventure starring Greak and his sister, Adara. This is everything you need to know about Greak 2: Alliance of the Storms.
After our dual protagonists are split across parallel dimensions by a ruthless sorcerer, they must work together to solve intricate puzzles and rescue the Storm Eagles from the brink of extinction. While local co-op is a welcome inclusion to this Metroidvania sequel, Greak 2 can also be played with others online. After all, our heroes are split across dimensions themselves, so it makes sense players can collaborate while apart as well. But that’s not all, as there’s also a seamless single-player option to boot, allowing you to switch between Greak and Adara as you play.
Set to launch in 2027, Greak 2 is a must-play for fans of It Takes Two and Unravel Two, both stylistically and in gameplay terms, while players who enjoy the likes of Hollow Knight and Ori and the Blind Forest will also enjoy their time in Synoraz, whether playing alone or with others.
If you’ve played the first game, you may not be familiar with the location of Synoraz, and that’s because Greak 2 takes place in an altogether new location to the original, meaning players don’t need any prior knowledge of Greak to enjoy the sequel. While Greak 2 is a continuation of the original story as we return to Greak and Adara having escaped their homeland; the new story, villain, and location means new players will have no trouble following the story.
Returning players, meanwhile, will be pleased to hear that Greak 2 retains everything fans know and love, including its delicate and colorful hand-drawn art style which switches seamlessly between gloomy and dangerous locales to bright, beautiful landscapes. Most crucially, Navegante has listened to players’ feedback from the first game, all of which became the foundation to the sequel, meaning it’s better than ever.
Published by Team17, Greak 2 will be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and you can wishlist it on Steam right now.
