Better to rule in Bullet-Hell than serve in Bullet-Heaven is the apparent mantra of action roguelike DeeSicks, and you can try the demo right now
Like a moth to a flame.
Upcoming roguelite bullet-hell bonanza DeeSicks just got a new trailer debuting in FGS Live From GDC (which followed the Future Games Show's Spring Showcase), showing off new forms of pixelated carnage - and announcing a playable trailer that you can try on Steam right now.

From what's been shown so far, DeeSicks appears to be a sort of reversed bullet-hell shooter in which you yourself must "ascend as your very own bullet hell boss", building up new powers and abilities as you encounter enemies and generating vast sprays of colorful artillery in full pixelated style. The end result is effectively two bullet-hell enemies fighting each other and you piloting one of them, battling to the end via out propulsions of particle projectiles.
Connecting these encounters are the choices you make about what upgrades and enhancements you'll be choosing. Details are currently a little thin, but DeeSicks shows off a physics-orientated dice-rolling system in which players get power-ups based on not just on the numerical outcome of the dice, but where on a board of options that D6 actually roll to a stop and - Oh. "DeeSicks." Damn it, I can't believe it took me so long to finally get the joke.
Regardless, if you're curious to see how this all works, and how a miniscule moth is elevated to something that could be a final boss in Returnal, you can try the demo for DeeSicks on Steam right now. The full release of the game is currently targeted for Q1 2027, and you can follow the game's official social media on BlueSky to find out more about their process and what to expect!
