Why it got hated on: It had the nerve to come out on 360.
Ever since Capcom created Dante’s hack and slash series the games have always been clutched to PlayStation’s black shiny bosom. Sony fans sat smug in the knowledge that Xbox-owning non-believers would never feel the warmth of its 30 hit combos, buckets of blood and demon decapitations. Well, not until Capcom announced it would release Devil May Cry 4 on PS3 and 360 simultaneously.
One Dante-loving disciple felt so passionately about Capcom’s supposed multi-platform betrayal he started a fanboy-sponsored petition, which collected over 12, 000 signatures. The emotional statement stated PS3 owners felt ‘very left out’ in the company’s decision to get in bed with Bill and his box. It also felt it had to stick up for a helpless little multi-million spanning conglomerate: ‘We find it absolutely demoralizing for not only the gamers, but also Sony itself.’ The thousands who signed the heartfelt toys-out-of-the-pram fest also promised to boycott all future Capcom products.
