Fox and Hulu have ordered a new Family Guy spin-off about everyone's favorite mischievous, time-traveling toddler... and the premise sounds pretty similar to The Magic School Bus.
According to Deadline, the spin-off, appropriately titled Stewie, has been given a two-season order (with an episode count that, so far, looks to be under 15 episodes per season). The spin-off series sees Stewie (voiced by Seth MacFarlane, of course) forced to enroll in a new "not exactly top-of-the-line" preschool full of children he doesn't know and a rather annoying 75-year-old class turtle. Realizing that he and the other children are miserable, he decides to roll out his "trusty array of devices to take them anywhere in space and time, turning every boring day at school into an insane and surreal adventure." This more or less makes Stewie an R-rated Mrs. Frizzle, and we're kind of here for it.
"I'd like to thank Fox for this incredible opportunity, and I’m excited to start pretending I’m collaborating closely with them on the show," MacFarlane said in a statement. MacFarlane will serve as executive producer, with Family Guy writer Kirker Butler set to serve as showrunner. The show will be produced under MacFarlane's Fuzzy Door production banner (which also produces Ted and the new TV remake of The Burbs).
Stewie is slated for a 2027-2028 premiere. Family Guy is streaming now in its entirety on Hulu and Disney Plus. For more, check out our list of the best new TV shows coming in 2026 and beyond.
