David Fincher adapting Channel 4 series Utopia for HBO

David Fincher is set to reteam with Gone Girl author and screenwriter Gillian Flynn to adapt Channel 4 series Utopia for a US audience.

Released back in January 2013, the unnerving drama series was one of the best things on TV last year, telling the story of five strangers, brought together by a cult comic-book before being pursued by a shadowy organization known as The Network.

HBO has snapped up the US rights to the show, with Fincher already signed up to direct the pilot, and Flynn on board to write the screenplay.

Original creator Dennis Kelly will also be involved as an executive producer, with the studio having already given the show the green light for a full series.

In the meantime, the second series of the UK original began shooting towards the end of 2013, and is slated to air on Channel 4 later this year.
