The first trailer for John Landis’ Edinburgh-set black comedy went online today, and it looks to be a fine return to form.
Boasting the talents of Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Tom Wilkinson, Isla Fisher, and the ever-sinister Christopher Lee, it tells the story of a couple of bungling 19th-century murderers (Pegg and Serkis), who sell their victims bodies to Wilkinson’s Dr. Robert Knox, for dissection.
Check out the trailer below:
The film is Landis’ first in over a decade and whilst gruesome, the comedy appears to be broader and far more scatological than that of horror-comedy classic An American Werewolf .
However, with a fine British cast (and some pretty convincing Oirish accents, courtesy of Pegg and Serkis), a hilariously twisted (and true) premise, and one of the most influential directors of the ‘80s at the helm, this has the potential to be something quite special.
Burke and Hare is released in UK on 29th October 2010
