The original Evil Dead film was released in 1982 and was made on a budget of $90,000. The film went on to make $2.4 million at the box office. Critical response to the film was initially fairly good, but it was the release of VHS that really built the film’s cult status and cemented it as a horror classic.

Evil Dead , the new terrifying new version of the horror classic, hits UK cinemas on 18 April . It stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas and is directed by Fede Alvarez.
