Later, Capcom announced and released a port of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 over the course of a few months, with filters on the original sprites. Guess which one sold better?
In the old days, the only way to get your animated character to wave his or her arm was to spend hours upon hours painstakingly crafting each frame and constantly readjusting your work to make sure everything flowed correctly. Now you just set a couple of keyframes and let a computer do it all for you. ...

Capcom announced that it was working on a patch for Super Street Fighter II HD Remix back in January. Today the publisher revealed more details about the patch, which will be released in the next few weeks.

Although Capcom was quick to point out the technical limitations to what a patch can fix, there are a total of 13 fixes on the way. You will be disappointed if you were looking forward to a patch for Akuma – apparently it has not yet been 100% proven that he's unbalanced, although many players believe he is too powerful.

For full details of the patch head over to Capcom's Blog before jumping back into the game.

The patch release notes for Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix were announced today. The details were posted on the Capcom-Unity blog.

The patch is supposed to be released in the next few weeks, here's the full scoop.

Please keep in mind, there are technical limitations to what a patch can fix, so we fixed as many as we could given these limitations. I know many users requested patching Akuma, but we didn't touch any balancing this time. This is mainly because I think the jury is still out on him. Sure, he's pretty powerful, but I don't think it's been 100% proven yet that he's unbalanced. I'm not saying that he's definitely balanced, but before we start tinkering with the balance, we want to make sure we're making the right move.

A big thanks to all you guys that were diligent in reporting the bugs that they encountered. Also, a big shot out goes to "The Furious One" who was a big help in compiling bugs and especially to "zerojay" who took his testing experience and actually created a bug data base to help organize the bugs.

Without further ado, here are issues that the patch fixes:

411mania gives a rundown on this week's game releases. Highlights include Legacy of Ys: Books I & II, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, Stoked, The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.

Legacy of Ys: Books I & II (DS)
Ys I and II have seen many ports and remakes since the first one came out in 1987; they've seen the light of day on such systems as the PC-8801, Famicom, Master System, DOS, Apple II, Saturn, and PS2 to name a few. The most widely-known versions are contained in the TurboGrafx-CD compilation, and for years that release was considered the best. It's place at the top was eventually challenged by Ys Eternal as it sported upgraded graphics, effects, and artwork as well as extras like new characters and scenarios. Unfortunately, Eternal didn't include voiceovers and some say that the remixed music was not as good. Apparently, enough people weren't satisfied so another update known as Ys Complete, which is said to have better graphics but an inferior soundtrack, was unleashed. Despite my best efforts, I could not find any agreement amongst Ys fans as to which official release is the definitive version since each of the three does at least one thing better than the others.

Preferences aside, there is one thing that fans of the first two Ys games can agree on no matter which version they've played - Ys I and II have some of the best music you will find in a video game. Every place I visited for info makes note of how awesome the soundtrack is. Knowing this, I questioned whether or not it was a good idea to play the games on the DS for the first time when I could just as easily track down the PC version and patch it or download the Wii VC one. Granted, Legacy of Ys comes with a free soundtrack if you preorder and it is portable. Maybe it would be easier to just flip a coin...

The first is box art, because laughing at other people’s hard work gone awry is fantastically easy. Right behind those myriad articles about game packaging are lists devoted to poking fun at their very names – and we’re not afraid to go back to the well for another bit of fun. ...

Barely edging out the impressive PS3, the swanky new dash and the amazing exclusives like Gears of War 2 and Fable 2 put Microsoft over the top. The Wii's casual focus didn't garner it any votes this year.

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix developer Backbone and redrawn art overseers Udon were "worried" that Capcom might cancel the game during the early part of its troubled development, lead designer David Sirlin has revealed.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com in the second part of a mammoth post-mortem interview, due to be published later this week, Sirlin suggested that Capcom continued to support the project because of pressure from the "world of gaming".

SSF2THDR, which is out on Xbox LIVE Arcade now (it's still to appear on the PlayStation Store in Europe), suffered a high profile delay earlier in the year when redrawn art based on Udon source material was thrown out of the window and work began with a new set of artists.

This is to celebrate the release of SSFII Turbo HD Remix, although this won't appear on the European PlayStation store until, well, hopefully next week - Capcom hasn't said.

Oh, and by "everybody", we mean those with a PS3 - there's no sign of the album on Xbox Live Marketplace. That, or we're simply blind."

Remember that crazy-awesome press kit that Capcom created for the release of Mega Man 9? Well the company has decided to do something similar for the release of another hotly anticipated downloadable title, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

In addition to the packaging and asset disc, all of which is covered with some truly fantastic art, the kit comes stuffed with all kinds of Street Fighter goodies. These include: Ryu's very own head band, a Chun-Li figurine, a comic book, and a magnetic board complete with a bunch of static cling SF characters.

Like the MM9 kit, Capcom is considering making a small number of these, 300 in this case, available to the general public via the Capcom Store. Be sure to keep an eye on the Capcom Unity blog if you want to pick one up, because if and when they do go on sale, they will undoubtedly go very quickly. And don't forget that SSFIITHDR will finally be released this week, on both Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network.
Street Fighter 4 and Street Fighter 2 HD Remix. As time dragged by it seemed more likely that Street Fighter 4 would come out before Street Fighter 2 HD Remix. Well now the game is finally finished and awaiting approval from PSN and Xbox Live. November is the target month for Street Fighter 2 HD Remix but it could take longer for either PSN or XBLA to give it the go ahead. There maybe be a delay in release date like Mega Man 9 had. I have PlayStation Store money just waiting for the Thursday that this hits."

Eurogamer writes: "Capcom, teasingly, has told us Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will arrive on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 "very soon".

The publisher couldn't clarify an exact date, however - presumably due to unpredictable XBLA and PSN certification processes.

SSFII Turbo HD Remix is, of course, a revamp of the fighting game from 1994 - the first of the series to feature Akuma and super combo moves. Super Street Fighter II also introduced characters Cammy, Dee Jay, Fei Long and T. Hawk, while the Turbo part of the name added faster and more difficult combat."

Alexander: "Just in case you've completely forgotten why you really bought Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 on Xbox Live Arcade in the first place, allow us to jog your memory: the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta begins today. To access the beta, owners of Commando 3 should select the "SFII HD Remix Beta" option from the game's main menu, which will take them to a blade where they confirm the download. The SSFIITHDR beta will reside in the demo section of the games blade.

The beta will give players the option of using only Ken or Ryu in various online modes or in local two-player matches. Remember, this is a beta, so the actual purpose of is to stress-test the network code for the multiplayer modes of the game. The beta will run until around August 20 or whenever Capcom decides to pull the plug. Don't worry, you'll probably get bored of Ken and Ryu by then."
Hell you might have been one yourself. Maybe you missed the arcade takeover and caught the games on SNES or PlayStation years later.

"Both Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Bionic Commando Rearmed will exceed 150MB. Capcom said that Rearmed holds far too much content to fit the current limits. To meet standards, Rearmed would need to shed some of the bonus material that would still appear on the PlayStation Network and PC versions. According to Capcom, SFII could not run in 1080p if not for Microsoft loosening the file size cap."

"The last thing I'll mention is concerning the talks the have been occurring online concerning the filesize of the game with respect to features on the 360 and the PS3 versions. I can officially say that the filesize will not be an issue. With great help from the guys at Microsoft, we will be able to offer the same features on both platforms to the same quality as each other. To use the term I've been reading on the forums, neither console version will be "gimped" due to any kind of limitation."
Blame Live Arcade's 150MB limit on file sizes, Judd explained.
Games have gone 3D, HD, analogue and online, but still Street Fighter is the best and most important fighting game series around. With the new HD remix of Super Turbo on the way along with the stunning-looking SFIV, we examine just why that is. ...
Games of movies, movies of games, they're both usually about as much fun as the death of a clown at a ten year-old's birthday party. But still we ...
As with many gaming announcements, the official bomb drop date is next Monday, but leaks and the occasional Famitsu exclusive might see word from Capcom HQ much much sooner. The hype machine was pumped and primed when Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix producer Rey Jiminez posted on the official Capcom USA blog "Well, I can testify, that what's coming is a megaton bomb!", adding "You will not be dissappointed."

"How are all you Street Fighter heads doing today? Last week I mentioned that I was having a hard time keeping up with all of the questions spread all over the place and to please restate your questions in the last blog entry. Thanks for that. It makes looking for the questions that much easier. I even noticed that the guys at the Capcom BBS and SRK have created new threads and forum areas to help organize everything in one place. Not that any of that was done on my behalf, but it just makes hunting down questions that much easier.

Before I get on to answering some questions from you guys, I wanted to show you a much requested background. I'm sure you can tell, but this is Balrog's stage."
Though it is only a simple artifact from the website, the teaser site does seem to borrow a lot of visiual elements from the Third Strike website in Japan. Could Street Fighter IV be Capcom's new 2D fighting game?
