Xbox360Fanboy reports: "Okay, we'll be upfront and say this news is a bit of a stretch, but slow news days warrant speculation stories. That's just how it works. So, when we spotted a credible source mentioning Gears of War 2 releasing this year, we had to pounce.

Our friend and fellow gaming enthusiast over at Gearheads of War, Tyler Bleszinski (who is the older bro of Cliffy B) posted about his latest Gears gaming experience and how it compared to Call of Duty 4. In summary, Tyler (like many of us) doesn't care for Gears' hit and miss and ever so random shotgun and Boom Shotting. Now this is where the juicy speculation kicks in. He goes on to say that "I had a blast even with the Gears hiccup. I'm thinking I'm just going to need to wait for the sequel later this year. In the meantime, I've got COD 4 to keep me company." Wha? A quick look at the floorplans of the 2008 Game Developer Conference reveals that Microsoft and Epic have secured the two biggest floor spaces.

With the largest exhibit at the event, taking up 4,800 square ft of space, Microsoft will certainly have a bigger presence than in previous years, when Sony and Nintendo got the biggest areas to utilize this professionals-only game industry conference as a pre-E3 event.

Only second in size to Microsoft's space, Epic Games' presence at the event isn't surprising at all, since the developer always uses GDC to show the latest Unreal Engine technology.

Furthermore, both companies' spaces are in front of each other in the first level of the Moscone West Hall. This last detail wouldn't matter if it wasn't for the fact that the two companies worked closely on Gears of War.

The Rumour: Take Two released its results for the fourth quarter of its financial year. Missing on a forecast for titles for 2008 is Rockstar's LA Noire, causing people to believe that the secretive title won't be out until 2009.

Verdict: While it's true that the game is missing from the forecast, Rockstar's financial year runs from November 1st to October 31st, meaning LA Noire could still see a release in November or December 2008.

You know, even though Sony hasn't announced God of War 3, it's coming. In fact, it was already sort of announced. Anyway, the folks at SCEA Santa Monica are already hard at work at preparing Kratos' debut on PlayStation 3, which should arrive during the next holiday season, joined by a little something called Gears of War 2, as well.

Epic Games and Microsoft haven't confirmed Gears of War 2 either, but the game's stellar sales (not to mention the cliffhanger ending) is confirmation enough.
