"The demos of Mirror's Edge and Too Human had strong online showings in 2008, but the full versions failed to captivate Xbox Live users in the same way, according to Microsoft's annual rankings of top-played games.

Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb posted the rankings to his blog on Sunday, showing that the Mirror's Edge demo was the 12th most popular game for Xbox Live members. Its full-game counterpart was nowhere to be seen on the top 20 list."

The game was also 4th place the week prior, and 3rd place for two consecutive weeks before that. Far from being a bad position, but it's certainly not dominating the service like its predecessor.

Prosecutor Kim Worthy was responsible for sentencing Kwame Kilpatrick in 2008. Now that she has more time on her hands again, she is back to attacking video games again with her annual top 10 violent videos games of 2008 list.

Yes, all of the games on the list are violent; however her statement that violent games cause teens and kids to act violently is one more of a continuing trend. She even claims that violent video games were the result of a hate crime she prosecuted earlier in the year, yet she never provides any proof that games do cause violent actions or this was the case. Maybe this is something she should consider doing, being a prosecutor.

U.S. sales of video game hardware and software rose 10 percent in November from a year earlier, market researcher NPD said on Thursday, as Nintendo Co Ltd (7974.OS) reported its Wii console and DS hand-held system both set U.S. sales records in the month.

NPD said the U.S. video game industry is set to top $22 billion in 2008, and Nintendo, Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) and Sony Corp (6758.T) said their strong sales in November showed that consumers are still spending despite the global economic crisis.

Rising unemployment and tighter credit have dented U.S. consumers' purchasing power, and most retailers have posted dismal sales results in recent months.

Ahead of tomorrow's NPD sales figures for the month of November, analyst Cowen Research is expecting Gears of War 2 and Call of Duty: World at War to have been the big sellers for the month.

Both titles are expected to have sold two million units during the period in the US, while Sony's Resistance 2 and THQ's WWE Smackdown Vs RAW 2009 will have sold around 500,000 copies each, according to the firm.

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King is also expected to have reached almost two million sales in the region, while Activision's Guitar Hero: World Tour will have sold at least one million units, said Cowen.

Overall, Cowen anticipates that software sales will have grown nine per cent during November, compared to the same period last year, including a 5 per cent growth in handheld games and a massive 76 per cent growth in PC titles, due primarily to the Warcraft expansion.
