Console Monster writes: "A title update for Gears of War 2 has been released earlier today. Whilst I knew there were problems with the game, I didn't think there was this many! The update fixes a number of exploits with the title including:

* Crabwalking
* Invisibility
* Weapon-slide
* Melee through walls
* Unlimited ammo

And I've picked just a few of the many adjustments:

* General Fixes: Shotgun and Boomshot updates, meatshield chainsawing updates, team communication, Insane gamer picture award.
* Balancing: Planted proximity grenade updates, increased quitting penalties, spawn protection, flamethrower stopping power.
* Improvements: Annex uses execution rules, achievement progression in the War Journal, added 7 DLC-based achievements worth 175 GamerScore.

A new Gears of War 2 patch is expected to be released by the end of the month and new Achievements to come with it.

7 new Flashback and Combustible map packs related (total worth of 175G) was revealed by Xbox.com.

According to Epic, the new patch will fix some of the online exploits and make some small changes in order to improve the online gameplay.

Console Monster writes: "We have just added the Achievements for Gears of War 2 on the Xbox 360. The achievements were promised and Epic Games didn't let us down. The achievements require players to play in all the game modes on both the Combustible Map Pack (800 Microsoft Points) and the Flashback Map Pack (which came free with new copies of Gears of War 2 or can be purchased from the Xbox Live Marketplace for 400 Microsoft Points).

There are 7 new achievements worth 175 GamerScore:

Skeletons in your Closet - 20 GamerScore
Complete waves 1 through 10 on all Flashback Map Pack maps in Horde (any difficulty)

GameDaily BIZ has learned that Gears of War 2 has passed the 4 million sales plateau in two months, doubling the pace of its predecessor.

Speaking exclusively to GameDaily BIZ, Gears of War 2 global product manager Guy Welch announced that the title sold over 4 million copies in its first month. This is double the pace of the original Gears of War, which sold 2 million during that period.

Mark Rein of Epic writes: "As I mentioned before the break we've been working on a major title update for Gears of War 2. This update will address bugs and exploits as well as add some new achievements related to downloadable content. We don't have an exact date for it but all indicators are it will go live within January. If that changes we'll let you know.

We're fixing a whole bunch of online exploits. For example we've fixed the ability to wield an invisible shield, melee through some walls, gain infinite Lancer ammo and equip a shield and a two-handed weapon simultaneously plus many more.

We're also making several small changes to improve the overall online gameplay experience. A few of the ones that might interest you are; increased penalties for quitting matches early, adding additional spawn protection against planted grenades and chainsaw attacks, and adding the ability to see the Submission flag carrier destination by using Tac/Com."
