Gears of War 2 is "85-90%" complete, series mastermind and PR pet Cliff Bleszinski has revealed.
The 360-exclusive sequel joins other first-party efforts Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, which is almost in the shops, and Fable II, which is (apparently) finished and 'gold'.

When asked if Gears 2's storyline will follow in the footsteps of a game like Halo 2 and its unsatisfying cliffhanger, Ortega comforted Joystiq's worries by admitting that players will "get nice closure." But not too much closure, because Ortega was also quick to acknowledge fact that he didn't want to end Gears 2 "too much where there couldn't be room to expand should you decide to." Because that would totally put a damper on any trilogy hopes. So, no unsatisfying Halo 2-style ending, a sense of fulfillment and room to grow the Gears franchise? In an IGN interview with Cliff Bleszinski, it was revealed by Cliff that Gears of War 2 would not be coming to the PC. The point of interest came up in a question about Gears 2's "Linked Achievements" and the Achievement portability with an account from Games for Windows Live.
When prompted about a PC version of Gears 2, Cliff spilled the beans: "Gears of War is a great franchise first and foremost for Xbox 360, and therefore we're focusing on that platform for Gears of War 2. We've decided we're not going to do a PC version this time around."

Microsoft and Epic Games have announced the near-complete list of achievements that gamers will be able to collect while they kick Locust ass in Gears of War 2 both offline and over Xbox LIVE*.
The action blockbuster 'Gears of War 2' will reach Australian shores on November 7. In addition to the standard retail version (priced $AU99.95 RRP), Gears of War 2 will be offered in a Limited Collector's Edition ($AU119.95 RRP) through participating retailers.

"The November 7 release date of Gears of War 2 is steadily approaching and that means that the hype train is steadily starting to pick up steam. As with every massive holiday release, Gears 2 has some serious expectations to live up to. The first game has sold more than five million copies and with Epic's Design Director, Cliff Bleszinski throwing around the phrase "bigger, better, more" at every turn, gamers the world over are expecting a lot from the second entry.
Luckily it seems that Microsoft's biggest game of the year is poised to deliver. Thanks to the Gamerscore Blog's handy schedule, we've been informed that Gears of War 2 is going to be demoed during this weekend's Penny Arcade Expo, though never did we expect Gears 2 to actually be playable on the show floor ... but it is!
According to the official Gears website, from this Friday through Sunday during PAX, the Microsoft booth will be hosting 5v5 Gears of War 2 multiplayer matches. And you can play too! But that isn't all. On top of the Gears 2 multiplayer gaming and the on-stage "Sinkhole" campaign demonstrations, both Gears writer to the stars Joshua Ortega and Gears artist to the stars Pete Hayes will be making a PAX appearance for a quick Q&A session and autograph signing. That said, we still think the meaty bits of the Gears 2 PAX presence is the multiplayer ... we so damn excited!

Epic Games president, Michael Capps, has bemoaned the "arms race" in videogames development, saying it makes creating sequels tougher.
During his keynote speech on the development of Gears of War 2 at GCDC in Leipzig, Capps said that games that are judged simply by comparing the amount of content compared to rival titles can fail to reflect the true value of a good game.

GamerVision Reports: "Way back in April, while scoping NECA's wares at the New York Comic Con, I took notice the Gears of War line had a Locust with an exploding head. Cue "Dreamweaver," I was in love. I had never seen an action figure with quite the attention to the source material as this one. Immediately, I began asking (read: begging) NECA for information about when and where I'd be able to get this wonderful piece of craftsmanship. They had no answer for me then, but I was persistent, asking them every opportunity I had. Spong: Epic Games' VP, Mark Rein, has confirmed to SPOnG that there will be filters in Gears of War 2 to moderate more adult content. He's keen to stress, however, that this does not make Gears 2 a game for kids and casuals.
"Nothing about Gears 2 is 'family friendly' - it is a MATURE title. However there are options for turning down 'strong language' and 'gore'", Rein told SPOnG.
The options in question will turn on-screen blood into sparks and will filter out nasty cuss words.
