Hey wheres Infinity Ward? To the best of my knowledge they didnt make a bad game ever. And @Tylinator: Why isnt Bungie on there? 2 words: Halo 3

I wish they would release amplitude and frequency on one fo the digital download markets. I lvoe those games, still have them in fact, but I hate puling out my ps2 for that taste of greatness. HARMONIX GIVE ME FREQ AND AMPLITUDE!

what about ubisoft? ive never played an ubisoft game i didnt like
  • flare149 - March 3, 2009 midnight

I don't beleive Valve or Bioware belong on that list. Most of Valves games are horribly overated and Mass Effect deserved a 7 at best.

I'm not so well versed in the histories of game companies, but why isn't Blizzard on here? I thought that all they did was genius, except for Starcraft: Ghost, which they didn't even release so as to keep their reputation. reCaptcha: analyze 180

WHERE IS LEVEL 5 ON THIS LIST? Dark Cloud, Dark Cloud 2, Rogue Galaxy, Dragon Quest VIII, Professor Layton? Ring any bells?
  • c03n3nj0 - March 2, 2009 8:46 p.m.

What about Insomniac? Have they made a bad game before?
  • animeman - March 2, 2009 8:30 p.m.

What about Squere Enix. With all the Final Fantasy and Kindom Hearts games.

I'm pretty sure that Unoriginal was being sarcastic, maybe I'm wrong but either way I like how the "first" comment got ignored in favour of everyone calling out Unoriginal's supposed mistake. Interesting. Valve: Kings of the game industry. I still hold up HL2 as my favourite game, and L4D blew me away last year (and still today). Listening to their in-game commentaries it is clear how much they know about making a good game.

John-117: Yeah, Blizzard did put out a bit of godawful crap during their 16-bit days. They were one of those devs we thought would get through until they fell at the last hurdle, too. Rock 'n' Roll Racing however, was awesome. Timothy_Lemon: Yeah, a definite distinction is needed between Kojima and Konami. Inconsiderate of them to have such similar names actually. Everyone: Lay off Unoriginal. :) He may have misinterpreted the comment (though grammatically, his response was actually 100% correct, thankyou very much), but he said nice things about Radar, so he gets points.

@Cyberninja This is not their first great article, they have lots of them, I recommend you check the site more often. I was wondering: Never making a bad game makes people have unrealistic expectations of your games. Do games from a Perfect company get worse reception since people expect nothing short of an amazing experience from said company? Good article

Very interesting article, I never knew intelligent systems made so many great games. I'd want say Blizzard belongs here too, but I think they've put out some bad games before they became as awesome as they are now.

I can see why Insomniac are not on the list as their first ever game (the FPS) was really bad. Naughty Dog however, deserve top spot on that list. Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Uncharted are all AAA franchises with AAA games in them (Well, the first 3 Crash's anyway before ND sold the IP). Nice article nevertheless.

Fairly new to the site but a good article. Never really gave it much thought before, I would have added Psygnosis to that list from the Amiga days though.
