    I think there's nothing misleading about the article. The major thing I got out of it is if you want to do it, do it. There will always be naysayers or reasons to hedge around and not do it. Put those out of your mind and just start.

    You can download UDK for free, in fact it's been free for years. Unreal Engine 3 contains Kismet, a visual programming language consisting of primarily conmecting 'nodes' for interaction withing the game environment. Starting your own game from scratch however, does require you to know Unreal Script and be able to compile your own scripts. So good look with that... Not easy by any means.

    I agree with oryanbelt. The article isn't trying to make game design seem like it is easy. If you think thats all the article is, you missing the entire point. Its a way to inspire gamers to take that leap into game design, independent or otherwise. And telling people about easier and cheaper programs to use isn't the same as saying its easy.
