RadioRadar podcast 93: We Were Wrong

This week we go through our list of 99 E3 2014 predictions and find that... holy hell, we were TERRIBLE. Why do you guys listen to anything we say? Wow.

Hosts: Hollander Cooper, Henry Gilbert, Ashley Reed, Ryan Taljonick
Question of the week: What are you looking forward to most out of E3?
Intro song by Danny Baranowsky

I can't believe that you are leaving Cooper, you will be missed. QOTW: The game I am most looking forward to out of E3 will have to be the new EA golf game. Seeing the Frostbite 3 logo before a golf game gave me all sorts of excitements towards the game. I also love the concept of the fantasy golf courses (Battleships), it reminds me of Mario Golf and how they had six extra fantasy stages to play on in addition to the regular courses.

Ryan, definitely get your leg checked out. My mom had a pulmonary embolism and her only symptoms were a charlie horse lasting over a week. So until you get it checked out, don't massage it, just in case. And I'm most excited for Yoshi's Wooly world because it looks adorable and I can always use a little extra happy.

I had to consult a doctor because of joy puke after watching the Borderlands: the pre-sequel trailer. Maybe you should consult a doctor too Ryan. Seems to be the consensus here
  • CrKnight - June 15, 2014 12:32 p.m.

I'm really looking forward to Amiibos! The prototype figures look gorgeous and they have so much potential interacting with Nintendo games. With enough investment, this could also become what makes the Wii U a must have for every kid. I know I can already see my shelves filled with the figures. Runner up goes to Splatoon for being the most interesting and fresh shooter on the horizon. Definitely a must buy.

I'm looking forward to overindulging in the delicious color and succulent size of No Man's Sky.
  • g1rldraco7 - June 15, 2014 8:22 a.m.

Ryan that pain in your leg might be a charlie horse, but go to the doctor to have it checked out. Anyway I am looking forward ot Mortal Kombat X. I mean it looks just like the CGI trailer. Not to mention the different fighting styles you can choose to play for each character. There's four new characters that have been shown so far and even though I've been an MK fan over the years, the fatalities never get boring to watch although they still make you cringe, so much blood :3
  • Jackonomics2.0 - June 14, 2014 10:45 p.m.

So Ryan, you think the Order lacks and dissapoints you in gameplay? Well too bad, its only gonna get worse" "Gameplay is something that... it's a game, we make games, we can't get around it."
  • GR_RyanTaljonick - June 16, 2014 7:43 a.m.

    Hoooray! :(
  • Jackonomics2.0 - June 16, 2014 10:59 a.m.

Cheer up, its not final yet, maybe things will change for the better

So I'm actively really excited for some Smash bros, and I played through Epic Yarn with a buddy of mine, so we're both pretty excited for Yoshi. I also want to play Unity and Tomb Raider, but I haven't invested in next gen yet, so my excitement is a lot more tempered since I couldn't play those if they were here.
  • IAmARobotWhoTurnsIntoATruckAnd - June 14, 2014 8:36 p.m.

Bloodborne and Scalebound should have been more exciting than they were, but they didn't show any gameplay so fuck them. Squidlolis looked fun, but it's not like that'll make me buy a Wii U. What I'm REALLY excited for is No Man's Sky. Just thinking about all that exploration and space battles fills me with hype. I'm just a bit skeptical though, of how a small team, whose previous game was Joe Danger, can be making such an amazing game.

in terms of trailers the trailer to uncharted 4 blew me away the fact that this might be drakes last adventure looked very promising and actually made me want to go back and replay the previous uncharted games. halo MC collection looked awesome too wish i had a xb1 just so i can make a playlist of single player levels i would love to replay with my cousin online. but the thing that reallly blew me away was nintendo they made me WANT to get a wiiu now. smash bros looks cool the new zelda looks BEAUTIFUL

Hey I have a question for whoever does the sound for the Radioradar podcast. What is the name of that tune that plays between the two halves of the podcast? It's been stuck in my head for a long time now, and somehow I never thought of just asking ya'll what it is.
  • TaserLime - June 14, 2014 2:53 p.m.

Gotta go with Tetris Ultimate. Really looking forward to the game after a strong showing at E3 where it received many 'game of show' acknowledgements.
  • EAC73 - June 14, 2014 1:15 p.m.

I guess the thing I'm most excited about is Smash Bros. I waited in line at Best Buy for 2 hours to play one match of Smash Bros for the Wii U and I have to say I don't really regret it. The game looks beautiful and from what I seen, the Yellow Devil stage hazard is pretty cool. I was also able to play the 3DS version for one match as well, controls felt awkward at first, since I used the analog stick to jump in Smash Bros, the thumb stick wasn't doing it for me. Overall though, I was impressed with the game and it pretty much convinced me to look into getting a Wii U.
  • BladedFalcon - June 14, 2014 10:03 a.m.

QTOW :The CGI reveal at Sony's press conference was exciting enough, but after seeing actual gameplay footage, bloodborne is easily my game of this e3, and possibly what will make me end up buying a ps4 sooner than later.
  • Jackonomics2.0 - June 14, 2014 9:39 a.m.

Scalebound easy, Platinum makes really fun games and given this clearly has the sense of DMC just by the character alone, it had potential to be awesome and kickass.

Ryan Taljonick -- go see a doctor for your leg pain! It could be a ton of different issues and if you do not have your health what do you really have?? In my early 30s I had pain in my leg that would hurt for a few weeks, it would then go away and then return. At first my doc treated it with Naproxen which did nothing for me but maybe it would for you. Next they wanted to try a Cortisone shot but to know where to do it they took a MRI. That showed that I had a bulging disc pressing against a nerve root in my lower spine that was in a sense sending messages to the muscle in my leg to feel pain. Options at that point were the shot, forms of physical therapy, or surgery. I went the surgical route which was in and out in the same day and back to work in less than a week. Over a decade later and no issues have returned. Long story short, go see a doctor. Do not guess at what the problem might be or hope that it will get better by itself. Hopefully you just have a pull and not something worse like I had but go see some who went to school for years to help make you better so you can get back to a pain free life.

Witcher 3 for me, followed closely by bloodborne. That new witcher trailer was amazing, and I'm looking forward to just losing myself in that world for days. It's so sad looking at it on steam , and seeing "this game will unlock in 9 months...". So far away, but it'll be worth it.
