Dancing Stage Supernova
With no around to laugh at you, the funky beats and sweaty feet of SuperNOVA prove a good way to get your grove on
Words: Ryan Jones, GamesRadar US
High-intensity digital dance-offs might be the only reason anyone sets foot in an arcade these days, but SuperNOVA does an excellent job of bringing the all the competitive, sweat-soaked action into your home. Basically an enhanced version of the same game that recently hit arcades, SuperNOVA offers over 75 songs, new background graphics, and new game modes. Plus, there are a few sweet, PS2-exclusive extras like EyeToy compatibility and a linking feature that lets you share data between the arcade machine and your PS2 (a big plus for the DDR hardcore).
DDR games have been assaulting home consoles for over five years now, but with a few exceptions, nothing has really changed, as you match your steps on the dance pad in sync with the on-screen cues with a variety of songs and scenarios. The familiar formula is partly what makes each installment so popular, with the new song tracks and extra features serving to distinguish one DDR game from another.
