Black Water Rifle - I know what you mean all too well. I play the Triple battles and it's the exact same thing. When I first started I used to get creamed all the time so I racked up all these losses. Then I did all kinds of planning and training and refining and came up with some really great teams! So what's my reward? 10% of the time I win, 10% of the time I lose, 80% of the time I am winning but the other person rage quits right before I get credit. I have followed this story on a few forums and it's the same everywhere. It's an epidemic and no one (seemingly even Game Freak) had a good answer for it. I actually know a PR rep for NOA and asked her about it. True to form, she completely denied that there was a problem and said that I was probably perceiving my percentages wrong. When I showed her the threads from other forums she said "you're going to believe what people post on forums?" So, yea ... we just have to deal with it. I take some solace in the fact that even big "modern" HD games like Mortal Kombat have the same exact problem. Apparently their servers are filled with rage quitters and there is no penalty for doing so. How can developers let systems like this out the door?!

I'll use legendaries if my friend is, and in that case i go all out with the legends. I prefer no legendaries though... Also, no OHKOs. ever. And finally, in general, I try not to be a lousy loser.

Wow I never realized how many people cant take a loss on Double Battle Ranked. Who ever runs the online needs to make a Penalty for Dropped Connections, and if you think giving a loss is harsh due to the fact that somtimes a connection is lost How about they can implement a suspention system that gets more harsh the more you drop your connection. The only reason I'm postibg this so late is that Today I've won all 10 matches that i've done, and the person has dropped the connection when they know they cant win, and its always when they are down to there last pokemon or down to the last turn in which we have to get through before I win. Instead of being 14 and 6 im 4 and 6. Why even bother when the only matches I'm gonna complete are the ones I lose or the person doesn't dissconect fast enough.

In trading, I make sure I nickname the Pokemon before I send it over. I think it tells the person a lot about me if I add a personal touch to the Pokemon I traded.
  • Swinub - May 11, 2011 10:27 p.m.

I refuse to battle or trade with anyone whos using a hacked game. To me theyre corrupted and defiled by hacking.
  • purplepiplup - May 11, 2011 3:48 a.m.

beyblade used work up! ...enemy's attack and special attack rose! hitmontop used rapid spin! ..super effective!! enemy defeated! pokemon defeats beyblade, it was no match!
  • TrainerTyson - May 11, 2011 2:44 a.m.

As for battling, I personally like non-ubers and legendaries. Legendaries can be tough to get good IVs and a beneficial nature with. But I wouldn't mind trying an uber or legendary battle, seeing as how I have never done it! In my opinion, as long as trainers keep their pokemon in the respected tiers I think its fair. As for trading, I always try to be fair. And I never back out on a trade. I have had people do that to me at the las minute with a Pokemon I really needed and its mad frustrating.
  • RandomIdoit - May 10, 2011 11:57 p.m.

As far as trading goes, I usually only do it to fill out my pokedex, so I normally ask for an any level, basic or baby pokemon. Something nintendo should do about lv. 9 and under impossi-trades is send them that pokemon, but have it turn into a bad egg when they take it. When battling, I don't usually use legendaries, I NEVER use hacked pokemon (I would normally tell the person how the pokemon is hacked and ask if it's okay, if they say yes, then I use that pokemon.), and I try to use the pokemon closest in level to the opponent(thank goodness for flat battles.), even with these rules, I can still beat teams which include hacked pokemon (not wondertomb, but I'm working on it.) and even ARCEUS!
  • SunniDee - May 10, 2011 11:41 p.m.

i would use any Pokemon possible BUT DARKRAI,but curse underneath my breath when something goes wrong. by the way i used to and still like beyblade. but only to play pokemon is better in every sense. And my birthday is the day after the world ends (May 21). And im turning 16 that day.
  • Noah4life - May 10, 2011 11:32 p.m.

Yes, i usually curse the people out when i lose or losing. Next, i would try my hardest. On GTS i make fair trades and trades that are psychically possible to occur.
  • nomnom52 - May 10, 2011 11:27 p.m.

as for trading, I always ask for what I think is a fair trade. (i.e. a lv. Squirtle for a Lv. 1 Tepig, or a Spiritomb for a starter)
  • nomnom52 - May 10, 2011 11:24 p.m.

For etiquette, I never, ever disconnect, because my stupid brothers quit whenever I get the upper hand in a battle. I've sworn that I'm never going to battle them ever again. I find it to be a major pain in the ass.
  • maydae503 - May 10, 2011 8:59 p.m.

i think using legendarys in competitive is okay AS LONG AS THE OTHER TRAINER IS FULLY AWARE OF WHAT YOU ARE DOING!
  • lackofoxygen - May 10, 2011 5:36 p.m.

No legendaries, hold items only. I got tired of the online battles because Battle tower in D/P (I think), because it allowed certain legendaries but teams were only 3 pokemon in size, so every team seemed like it was nothing but legendaries or ubers. For trades, I ask for something reasonable.
  • joshuajgb - May 10, 2011 5:34 p.m.

God, Beyblades? That fad , thankfully, peaked 10 years ago in England and as far as i have seen hasn't returned. Battling/Trading ethics, for trading i just make them fair, unless a friend wants something for their pokedex then i'll just get a pidove, but i don't mind. With battling, me and my friends have started training for a Gen V only (not a rule just for fun), no flagship legendaries (no reshiram, victini is fine) and NO HAX! Also, what do you think of getting event pokemon by using DNS, do you consider it hacking?
  • aang1050 - May 10, 2011 1:21 p.m.

I actually haven't battled over wifi, but using legendaries is DEFINITELY bad etiquette. Whenever I trade over wifi, I always give people what they deserve. For instance, when someone gave me a lv. 83 well-trained vaporeon, I gave them my level 80 blissey. It's just nice. you don't trade someone a bidoof for lv. 67 espeon.
  • philipshaw - May 10, 2011 11:49 a.m.

Don't have any expect for no rage quitting because nobody likes that
  • Luxrayquaza - May 10, 2011 6:42 a.m.

sorry for the double posting but wouldn't yoshi be dragon/poison because in super mario sunshine he would spew a liquid from his mouth, gastro acid hmmmm?
  • Luxrayquaza - May 10, 2011 6:34 a.m.

ok well i think that one should not use legendaries in a battle or hacked pokemon, because one time over wifi some guy fought me using the musketeer trio, so i had to forfiet, and it was during a ranked match so my ranking went down, and another time someone disconnected because i was about to win, so no disconnecting just to avoid registering a loss. and for trading same thing no hacked pokemon and no unfair trades as in want reshiram trading...patrat, like once in soul silver some guy traded me a lucario on the gts but it was in a quick ball, i dont think that lucario can be in a quick ball, can he? because dont you only get one that hatches in dppt, and riolu is only availabe in the safari zone in hg and ss, unless im wrong. and why do you guys always bad talk beyblade that was one of my favorite shows, the old one from like 8-9 years ago not the new one, so while the toys do require no strategy the show was pretty cool, unless your not into stuff like that then its fine, and CyberNinja is right ultimate blader jam was a fun game.

Hi there Pokemon Monday people. Few things... 1. I don't care who you bring in to battle. Personally, a team with too many legendaries wouldn't be much fun, BUT, if that's how you get your kicks, go for it and I'll just have to do my best! Obviously, the battle should also be flat. If you don't have your pkmn up to lvl50 then they deserve to be wrecked. And if you have 'em over lvl 50 then the playing field should be level.... or ... flat... so to speak. 2. Carolyn, do you just not respond to private messages? I was really hoping your podcast could spread the love with my Effectiveness Calculator. I even said you guys could host it on gamesradar if you're worried about "advertising." Given the "slow news" lately I thought my contribution would be a welcome addition to the discussion! I think a loooot of trainers would enjoy it - I know I do!
