Phillippe and Macy added to Lincoln Lawyer

More casting news has been revealed on The Lincoln Lawyer , and it’s looking like shaping into a pretty solid ensemble.

Following hot on the heels of last week’s announcement that Marisa Tomei is on board comes the news that Ryan Phillippe and William H Macy have also signed on for the courtroom drama.

Filling out the rest of the supporting cast will be John Leguizamo and Michael Pena, whilst The Take ’s Brad Furman will occupy the director’s chair previously vacated by Tommy Lee Jones.

Furman will be working with an adapted script from Intolerable Cruelty scribe John Romano, with production tipped to kick-off in July.

All of which suggests the wheels are finally in motion on a project that had been grounded since last year by Jones’ decision to jump ship due to those pesky “creative differences”.

Lionsgate clearly think its hot property anyway, with the studio announcing it has shelled out for US distribution rights for the Michael Connolly adaptation.

The film stars Matthew McConaughey as a shabby defence attorney working out of the back of his car. A small-time lawyer by trade, he soon finds himself in over his head when he lands the defence of a Beverly Hills playboy (Phillippe?) accused of murder.

Excited by the new cast? Or is the McConaughey factor too much?
