'Tag' would make a good multiplayer mode. Seriously.
  • KidKatana - June 3, 2013 3:03 a.m.

All excellent ideas, but you missed the most important one. Please Please PLEASE map 'jump' and 'wall run' to different buttons. It would save so, so much swearing.

I'm super excited about the possibility of a new game, and all the suggestions seem great. I just have two minor issues to point out in the article. The first one being that the city is called Eden (I think, it could just be a neighborhood in the city). And Callaghan is sort of gender neutral. In the main game he is guy, but only by pronouns that aren't important. In the iPad/iPhone game they made him a her. I'm sorry I brought these two things up, but this is my only chance to say them.
  • ZeeCaptain - June 3, 2013 12:11 a.m.

I hope this doesn't end up like Portal 2, I mean Portal was awesome, and it was the fact that they didn't intend for it to be the success it was, but Portal 2, I just didn't feel the same vibe, I still liked the game but the added of MP, not a bad idea, and the story just didn't quench the Portal thirst I had, but anyway yea ME was great, can't wait to see how this turns out
  • archnite - June 2, 2013 11:13 a.m.

I would say cut the story completely out or just be about running sensitive information around a totalitarian city like what the game claimed to be about not an L-grade crime drama.
  • Sinsational - June 2, 2013 7:09 a.m.

This game doesn't need multiplayer. We don't need multiplayer in every single game. And to be honest... I'm starting to get tired of you guys at GR constantly bringing it up with every sequel speculation article. Co-op? Sure, if it can fit into the storyline without harming the singleplayer. The Time Attack and your idea on an improved Trials Mode is all I think we would need to see with ME2 without bringing full-fledged multiplayer into the mix....
  • gilgamesh310 - June 2, 2013 7:21 a.m.

I'm fed up of people saying games need multiplayer and co op too. The single player campaign just suffers 99% of the time when games have it. I also think that the combat should be expanded on. It shouldn't feature heavily in the game but what's there should be better than it was. The stupid QTE disarm moves should be done away with. Proper combat moves should be in place.
  • Person5 - June 2, 2013 11:38 p.m.

To be fair, it WILL have MP solely because EA thinks every game needs it. They actually considered Mirror's Edge a failure because of its lack of mp. I read it on GR forever ago but I can't find it so here's it on a different website
  • avantguardian - June 2, 2013 12:37 a.m.

obviously this game needs more guns, killstreaks, blinding flashlights, and environmental destruction. also, too much color in the first one. needs more brown. ooooh! and team deathmatch, of course. and instead of esurance cutscenes, we'd get geico ones, with that adorable pig!
  • SpookMeister - June 1, 2013 6:10 p.m.

I aggre in that 3rd person it completely unneccecary and should never be implemented and srsly wtf why no in-game first person cutscenes? anyway, the one idea that i didnt find here was that. A cops & runners chas gamemode would be awesome with the cops using guns and runners using pathways to throw them off and do a dropkick out of nowhere whilst being outnumbered. just imagine it, You and 4 other runners getting some objective (runnerbag drop-off) and being chased by 10 cops (sluggish-runnercops or normal ones/ all custom) and you take out 8 all toghether and end up losing almost everyone. Now you are alone with a runnercop and a CPF behind looking for you and the clock is ticking, you end up getting shot but barely making it and thus clutching the win, after that round the roles are swiched Good idea?
  • Uncompetative - June 2, 2013 9 a.m.

Very good idea. I hope they are listening. It would be nice to see if a helicopter could be worked into that, say, as a way to pursue the final survivor and give everyone else something dramatic to spectate. I'm hoping that Prey 2 comes to ONE.
  • Hobogonigal - June 1, 2013 8:59 a.m.

Agree with everything bar the 3rd person mode. I know it wouldn't be mandatory, but rather than spend time on that it would be so much better if they spent that time doing the other things on the list. Plus, a lot of the reason why Mirror's Edge is so special is that first-person free running immersion. Why can't they hurry up and announce this game! Can't wait til E3, maybe then we'll have answers!
  • Mr.YumYums - June 1, 2013 8:40 a.m.

I would've changed the name of this article to "Mirror's Edge 2 - 15 Things the Sequel Needs, besides coming out already..."
  • gilgamesh310 - June 1, 2013 7:28 a.m.

I disagree with half the things mentioned here. Fuck third person for a start. The game wouldn't work from that perspective. I've seen videos where people mod it to play like that and it looks horrible. First person provides much more immersion. as well. I don't know anyone who gets motion sickness from this kind of thing anyway. If they do they probably shouldn't be playing video games at all. I don't remember Callahan being built up to being a villain at all. I didn't even think it was a she. We knew nothing about the person. There's other stuff I disagree on too but I don't think Faith needs to be the protagonist. She's hardly that iconic and she's a fairly bland character. I don't see anything wrong with giving another runner a chance at being the main character.
  • SpookMeister - June 1, 2013 6 p.m.

It is "Callaghan" and look it up on the wiki and you will see that it is a she
  • gilgamesh310 - June 2, 2013 4:36 a.m.

The fact that I couldn't remember how to spell the name shows how irrelevant the character is. I shouldn't need to wiki it. The character should just be dropped. I remember GR saying something similar in the past about a character called Kriegler in Modern Warfare. They made whoever it was out to be of great importance and be some sort of ultimate villain when it actually turned out to be no one at all, excpet the name of someone involved with the production of the game.
  • CrowStar - January 17, 2015 1:29 a.m.

I disagree. It's hard being the protagonist of a single-player only game, especially when most of your time is spent being forced to do parkour for hours on end. Have you ever stopped running to let Faith catch her breath? No, and you probably never will do, purely because Mirrors Edge doesn't have an oxygen/sprint level mechanic, and the sequel won't, either. This goes for any other PK game. What about Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad? All he did for the majority of Assassin's Creed was run, which probably explains his dreary personality. Same goes for Ratonhnhaké:ton/Connor Kenway, and he had the weight of a dead mother and the fact he had to kill his father on his shoulders. Cole MacGrath was occasionally funny, but it wasn't usually on purpose. Most of his comedy was because of how funny most of the stuff he said was in his gravelly voice. There are a few exceptions, such as Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Edward Kenway, Arno Dorian, Nathan Drake and Me (a.k.a. Delsin Rowe).
  • gilgamesh310 - January 17, 2015 6:45 a.m.

I don't know what the hell you're talking about.
  • Swedish_Chef - June 1, 2013 6:10 a.m.

Can we make the gunplay not suck this time around and actually mesh well with the running mechanics rather than completely destroying the flow of the title? You know things have gone wrong when people wind up getting the special achievement for beating story mode without using guns by accident simply because they really don't want to deal with the crappy shooting.
