Illusive Man's origins to be revealed in new Mass Effect comic mini-series

Mass Effect's Illusive Man is about to be exposed. Bioware has penned a new deal with Dark Horse Comics to shed light on the enigmatic powerbroker's shady past in a brand new, 4-part comic book miniseries entitled Mass Effect Evolutions.

The comics (aka 'graphic novels for adult enthusiasts'), will tell the tale mankind's first brush with intergalactic conflict, and the Illusive Man's role within the ensuing wars. Judging by the covers and BioWare's 7-page preview, readers will get to see how the universe's richest chain smoker got his glowing eyes and maybe even a glimpse at how his past will figure in to the events in Mass Effect 3.

Mass Effect Evolution is written by Mass Effect 2 & 3's Lead Writer Mac Walters along with John Jackson Miller, the author of Dark Horse's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic series. They are joined by artist Omar Francia, whose previous work on other Star Wars properties can be seen at his personal blog.

The first of four issues is available January 19th and can be ordered in digital form at the Dark Horse Comics website.

Good I hate that he knows everything about me and I know nothing on him other than he likes to smoke. Hmm c4 cigar.

Considering Bioware is investing in the story behind the Illusive Man's origins, I suspect their next DLC may be related to it.

I love Video Game Comics, I don't care how nerdy it is, I love a good story and these just fuel that epic universe that sucks me in every time. It can go alongside my Halo and MW2:Ghost Graphic Novel Collections

Art on the right is much nicer; stuff on the left looks kinda dated.

I forgot this was coming out this soon. I better call the comic shop to add it to my pull box. I missed the last two issues of the first ME miniseries because I did not ask the shop to hold them for me.

I actually don't like it have we learned nothing from Star Wars? The Illusive Man is interesting because we don't know his background. It makes him whatever we want him to be. I personally won't read these, I wonder if Bioware has seen Mr. Plinketts reviews? ^mandatory viewing

Bioware seems to have quite the love affair with Dark Horse Comics.

Great idea on Bioware's part! FIRST. (I think)
