What keeps me coming back to Mass Effect isn't different endings. It's the INSANE amount of possible playthroughs if you play through all three games. Currently playing through ME3 with almost all crew from 1 and 2 dead and a pure evil fem-shep. Can't wait to finally getting around to playing 1-3 as a male. My goodness there are a lot ways to play those three games.

I'd put Seiken Densetsu 3 into this list too; since there are six main endings and you get two "minor" endings depending on who your main character and two additional ones were.

Star Fox Command fits in snugly with 9 different endings

You're being a little too generous with ME3. Having multiple different colored explosions and then a different 10 second cinematic is hardly multiple endings.

Really, not one game from Nippon Ichi?

I agree, Neptunia mk2 had a bunch of endings depending on shares for each of the countries. Victory, while only having 3, would have completely different final bosses and even more chapters depending on the requirements you met.

Silent Hill 2 has 6 endings. In Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas you get a different ending for each city/faction, which makes for a lot of combinations. Vampire: Bloodlines has a few endings.

mass effect had more than that. the changes weren't played out in glamorous cut scenes but the narration and the pictures changed depending on the choices you made throughout the 3 games. you find out how the other species get on after you decided to save or doom them. and then at the end you can get multiple different combinations of crew mates emerge from the wreckage of the Normandy. so by the rules of the ending being different (no matter how minuscule the change may be) there are way more than eight. and you missed out the secret (so secret no one ever seems to mention it in the articles about ME3) 4th choice shooting the winy little kid/ghost/ reaper/ self proclaimed king of the freaking galaxy and having the whole damn reaper cycle continue. i did that by accident and have no regrets.

I did that on my insanity playthrough because I knew it would be more different than the others I'd already seen. But once the credits were rolling, my insanity trophy didn't pop and I had to go through the last bit again and make an actual choice. Apparently Bioware decided that the refusal ending is not considered beating the game.

Didn't Star Ocean 2 show about 8 endings at a time? Not sure I'd really call that 100, it had 100 different ending scenes I guess.

So out of 50 Heroes and Villains, there can only be one true hero that can truly defeat galactus and save the world. Clearly, Phoenix Wright, first he beats the living f*ck out of him and then he flat out defends his actions.

The Stanley parable has 13 endings, Virtue's last reward had 24 endings and dragon age: origins has 4. I'm not sure how having 4 endings could be considered shocking, I was neither surprised nor was an electric current delivered to my body.

Well the standard is really 2 endings. Good or bad basically, so DA doubled that and the rest went nuts with the amount.

How about Fallout New Vegas? That game creates a custom ending for you based on which faction you sided with, what you did to all the other factions, the status of small towns and settlements, the fate of all of your companions (and most other semi-major characters), and pretty much every other little thing you can think of that had an impact on the wasteland in some way. Oh, and all four DLC expansions end with one of those too. Any aspiring mathematicians want to try their hand at estimating the number of unique endings?

in ME3 there's 4th ending. Just shoot the kid and see what will happend...
  • JinHalloway - February 6, 2014 5:12 p.m.

Shadow the Hedgehog has 326 different endings. Just saying.
  • universaltofu - February 6, 2014 6:09 p.m.

Bioshock Infinite has infinite endings, just saying.
  • talleyXIV - February 6, 2014 8:23 p.m.

Has anyone ever played through that game though?
  • bigwill1221 - February 7, 2014 12:17 a.m.

Ending =/= ways of path a to get to path b. Maybe 326 possible different story alternatives with n shared endings though.
