My feelings towards Donkey Kong Country Returns have been a bit of a minecart rollercoaster. My first reaction, as a right-thinking SNES veteran, was a simple "WAYHAAAAAY!" But then I found out that there would be no water levels, and as a right-thinking SNES veteran, my soul became gripped with a terrible malaise, brought on by the knowledge that I would be denied a modern day remix of this tune.

But now I've seen this new trailer, entitled 'Eruption'. My current feelings? 'WELCOME BACK, WAYHAY!' Because it's nearly one and a half minutes of the gloriously hardcore, pixel-perfect, seat-of-the-pants exhilaration that made the original DKC such a thrill. Only exponentially boosted by modern tech and design savvy. Watch it, and tell me if you're as pumped as I now am.

Those mine carts. Seriously, those mine carts. God, I've missed mine carts.

UPDATE: Aquatic Ambience might be in there after all. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSS!

I can't watch this trailer because I don't want anymore spoilers. But just thought I would let you know Craig said on IGN that there is a new remix to Aquatic Ambiance. So get more excited:)

How could anyone not be excited about this game?!?! Even those that didn't grow up with the original Donkey Kong Country!! It looks so fuckin' incredible!! I am so happy for this. My childhood years revisited!!!

Man this takes me back, great day great days - remember when i almost completed the first game i actually deleted my save as i did not want to stop playing too soon. And getting the 101% if my memory serves me well took some time also.

I did not miss mine carts. Even the little bit in Shadow Complex irritated me. I'm glad they went away, they were always some of my least favorite levels back in the day.

Fuck yeah. I'm really loving what they're doing with layers and perspective and color. There's that beach level from the original trailer, and now that industrial level. Super Meat Boy does the same thing, and it's fucking brilliant. I absolutely can't wait, and I don't have to much longer; less than 3 weeks left!!!
