Do you want a Groot-Rocket Raccoon spin-off movie? Vin Diesel does

The first official teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has the world ready for more shenanigans from the whole team of space-faring misfits, but once again Groot and Rocket Raccoon have stolen the show. They're popular enough that Vin Diesel, who plays Groot (or at least his pitched-up voice), believes there is a very good chance of the duo getting their own standalone feature in the years ahead.

"I think if it's up to [Guardians director] James Gunn you're going to see a Groot-Rocket movie after [Avengers: Infinity War]," Diesel said in an interview with ScreenJunkies News. "And it's highly possible. We shall see."

It isn't all up to Gunn, of course, but Vin Diesel sounds quite taken with the idea of a Rocket-Groot buddy movie. I would add that Rocket and Groot worked together as bounty hunters before joining Star-Lord's crew, so a prequel could work nicely. What do you think?

Diesel wasn't done fueling months worth of speculation there. He quickly turned the interview toward the topic of a smash-up between two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most powerful characters.

"Somewhere in the universe you're going to see Groot and Hulk battle," Diesel said, grinning. "I know it. You can write it somewhere, you're gonna see that poster: Groot vs. Hulk."

Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit UK cinemas on April 28, 2017 and open in US theatres on May 5, 2017.
