Remember those goofy--but super fun--side levels in Super Mario 3D World? The ones where you have to manipulate the camera to help Toad reach his goal? Yeah, that awesome concept is being developed into its own standalone (and presumably downloadable) game: Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. Better yet, it's coming this holiday season.
If you never played Super Mario 3D World, here's a rundown of how that particular side game works. Toad walks along straight paths in a 3D level, but he can't jump or attack; it's up to you to manipulate the camera to uncover hidden pathways and obstacles so that you can lead him to his objective. It's simple, really, but each stage becomes progressively more difficult in fairly inventive ways.
Don't think of Captain Toad Treasure Tracker as a traditional Mario platformer; it's more of a puzzle game in Mario wrapping. Ever wish Nintendo's platformers presented some form of challenge outside of traditional platforming? Then you'll definitely want to keep an eye out on this one.
