Square: Outsources classic FF clone for a fraction of the price of a normal FF game to almost universal praise and (probably) highly profitable sales. Square Exec: "We've lost another 100 million this year people. What are we doing wrong?? Let's make a fourth FF13 game and focus on Snow. People like him right?? Here's 200 million, get started."

Pretty much, you summed up the main problem with Square rather perfectly. But playing the demo is enough to know that this isn't really a clone of a Final Fantasy game. It's certainly a pastiche from a lot of RPGs including some FF elements, but it plays and looks and feels significantly different from most FF games.

...Holy crap, I've just started playing the demo today, I now completely get why other people here have gotten so hooked. This game is fucking fantastic. Say guys, anyone here that I don't have their Friend Code yet, would you guys be interested in sharing them for this game once we can actually play it? XD
  • Doctalen - January 29, 2014 6:37 a.m.

I hope everyone on my FC list gets this. 100 villagers right off the bat will be amazing >:D Still a good idea to get something going like a Gamesradar google doc for FC and games.
  • BladedFalcon - January 29, 2014 8:58 a.m.

Well, I'm too lazy to do something like that, but if someone else wants to do it, that'd be fantastic XD And yeah, I'm really gonna depend on you guys XD seeing as the other way to get villagers is trough streetpass... And yeah, suffice to say that living in a small town of Mexico isn't the most likely place to walk past other people with sleeping 3DSs XD

I'm excited for the game, unfortunately it's come at a time when I'm a little low on funds. Hopefully I'll remember this exists when I hae the cash.

Well with this review and the article explaining why I should play the demo I am certainly intrigued. I'll be downloading the demo now. But if someone manages to see this comment before 02/07/14, how's the story as a whole? From what I read on this site is a mix of cliche but well down characters. That's really the final selling point for me since the combat seems fun and I've been looking for a turn based game for a while.

Has anyone beat the turtle? How can I attack him if he reflects magic? [Physical attacks are useless]
  • rashtaki - January 10, 2014 12:02 p.m.

Level Black Mage. Default on Reflects and then Brave as many Water when it goes away.
  • Vonter - January 10, 2014 6:56 p.m.

Thanks. :D I can be such a noob in these types of games.

You can also cast poison on him which works ridiculously well.

Wow yalls comment section sucks Lol, should invest in an edit and delete feature like the rest of the internet since 2004.

I've put 10 hours into the demo, I would continue to play, but there is nothing left to unlock! Definitely check it out guys, you get bonuses for the main game by playing the demo. Also the street pass function carries over from the demo to the main game.

It feels so strange to have got this for Christmas and seeing reviews just coming out. I'm not trying to rub it in or anything, it's just we usually get games from Japan later than everyone else here in Europe.
  • GR_RyanTaljonick - January 9, 2014 9:45 a.m.

We don't even get it in NA until February :(
  • occasionalgoldfish - January 10, 2014 9:12 a.m.

    Sorry dude. :(
  • wadesmit - January 28, 2014 11:08 p.m.

Man, that's harsh. Even here, in the wild lands of Africa, we have Bravely Default.
  • universaltofu - January 8, 2014 9:29 p.m.

Pre-ordered this one last month, just one more till it comes out, Seems like the demo is more than I thought it was.
  • JMarsella09 - January 8, 2014 8:48 p.m.

As a huge fan of old school RPGs, I am most defiantly getting this.
  • GamesRadarCollanderCooper - January 8, 2014 4:30 p.m.

    Already preordered the limited edition
