The art styles in Braid and Fez are gorgeous. Journey had great graphics as well. Still, Machinarium should have been on this list. The hand-drawn art was sharp!

Come on, the characters in Braid are *ugly*. Especially the enemies!

The characters could literally be swirling piles of poop and the art style would still be impressive because of those backdrops. That watercolor sunset, man.

Sure, the environments are gorgeous, but I'd find it hard to talk about Braid's art style without mentioning the obvious flaw.

Sword & Sworcery should really be on this list.

I'd never heard about Ballpoint Universe or Bastion until this article! Gonna have to hunt these down I think as they sound right up my street. My personal picks would mostly be the same although I'd include Deadlight and Shank around the #11 and #12 spots as they're beautiful art styles despite being a bit derivative of other stuff.

You must not have Steam. Bastion is awesome, highly recommended.

My laptop tends to spaz out recently while running games. It's on XBLA though right?

Oh yeah!. I don't have an XBOX but it is there.

Neat list but i heavily agree with Bladedfalcon, Machinarius or Guacamelee shouldve taken To The Moon's spot

Would have loved to see World of Goo up there. I think the 2D boys art style is unique and looks great

..Y'know, for all the love I have for "To The Moon", I don't really think this game belongs in this list, specially when even you guys say that it looks like a lot of other SNES RPGs out there... That's hardly original if you ask me >_> Machinarium, on the other hand, I'm astonished that it isn't in here. Heck, even Guacamelee has a more original art styles than To The Moon.

Agreed, To the Moon (despite being quite the experience) looks like something anyone could have popped out of RPG Maker. . .

My GOD, I finished Machinarium the other day and simply couldn't get enough of how the world and characters looked. It might be my favorite design in any video game in recent memory.
