How Arkham Asylum’s biggest secret stayed hidden for so long

We solved all the Riddler’s challenges and we unlocked all the achievements and trophies. But like so many Arkham fans, we missed out on the Asylum’s biggest secret of all: Arkham approved blueprints of Gotham City. The juicy Easter egg can be found in Warden Quincy Sharp’s secret room. It doesn’t appear on the maps and your Detective Vision won’t help you see the breakable wall that leads to it.

Speaking to Game Informer, Rocksteady Studios lead designer shed some light on how Arkham Asylum’s biggest secret stayed hidden for so long.

"While building Batman: Arkham Asylum, we placed a number of ‘hooks’ into the game that tie into the ‘Arkham-Verse’. From the beginning we knew that Quincy was a bad guy, and planned what his next move would be. The room obviously ties into Arkham City, but to be fair, we hid it pretty well. We did assume that it would be found eventually and after following forum posts for 6 months or so, decided to announce it in the ‘Game of the Year’ podcast." explains Crocker.

... I hate to sound like a douche but I've been linking this and other videos like it showing this room off in any of the articles on this site about the next Batman city. I found this awhile ago myself and then hopped online to see if others found it and sure enough, someone with a capture cam did. Whatever, I'm just glad other people are seeing it because it's actually extremely forward-thinking on the developers part for this to be in the first game.

awesome, this is the kind of detail I've always wanted from games, I wonder if there are any more secret rooms? The Joker's toilet maybe?

Great Easter Egg. And if you notice behind the blue prints its the same whiteboard that is in the Medical Facility (Surgery Room. It's the same board that was revealed to the the Hush Character that Charlei Barratt cronicled in his 28 hidden characters of Arkham article.

I don't know why, but this news leaves me with a feeling of surprise and anger. I'm surprised that such a hidden gem was never found up until now. I'm angry because I completed the game one hundred percent and never came across this juicy secret. Good show Rocksteady, good show.

i'm not sure what the map is supposed to be showing... it looks pretty vague, and by vague i mean a circle with gotham city written inside of it

I saw this on YT. This was the most fun I've had playing the video game. I love hidden stuff and for this to be in there makes the game that much more epic.
