I hate rescue missions. Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee did it the best.
  • Rad_Bracket - July 30, 2009 2:21 p.m.

I always thought that Atlas had just made the wife and son up. I mean we never saw them.

@JosefRaikov: Actually, the SAS was created in 1941, disbanded in 1945, and then the Artists Rifles regiment was formed into the nucleus of the SAS we know in 1947. The US Marines, on the other hand, trace their heritage back almost 200 years earlier: on November 10, 1775, the Continental Congress signed legislation authorizing the formation of two battalions of Marines to serve on Continental Navy vessels. Your statement was quite ballsy: "SAS" stands for "Special Air Service", and the USMC pre-dates airborne combat by more than a century.

Ok, GR, of all people, I'd think you knew that Atlas' "wife and son" don't exist. Remember *spoiler* when you find out Atlas is really Frank Fontaine and he laughs and tells you how gullible you were and then he mocks you with his 'Irish' voice? So that part of it shouldn't be in this article unless you reword it and explain that they aren't real.

*spoilers for Tales of Vesperia!* Hey, wait a minute! What about operation: "Run around like an idiot and get blown away and lose your airship instead of saving your healer" as seen in Tales of Vesperia? You know, that 8-10 hours of plot where you go through about 4 different dungeons, one of which is a decoy by your enemy to delay you even longer, then you lose your airship and have to hoof it through an ice cap (3rd dungeon) then climb a big ass tower (4th) all to save your healer? I thought that would be here!

@boxmeizter: um, there IS a spoiler warning on the first page.
  • ciderdrinker - July 30, 2009 11:36 p.m.

Not really sure that Bioshock and Metal Gear Solid should really count. @ phoenix_wings very nice - made me chuckle. @ linkganon yes, the foxdie virus was supposed to only target specific people - It was also supposed to kill Snake but backfired and killed Liquid instead.
  • Yeager1122 - July 30, 2009 11:26 p.m.

So the wife and kid actually existed in Bioshock? I thought they were made up by Atlas.
  • linkganon - July 30, 2009 11:07 p.m.

all metal gear solid people know that the foxdie virus is inside of snake, but you notice otacon is completely immune to it somehow, also raiden somehow doesn't get infected. is it because it targets specific people or what? i never understood that. how does any guard survive after making contact with snake and finally meryl survives contact with him? all in all, good article.
  • phoenix_wings - July 30, 2009 10:44 p.m.

Yeah, I don't know if this was added in after...but...for those of you bitching that GR ruined games for you? There's a SPOILER ALERT at the beginning of the article. What about in RE 4? The call back to the president..."Uhhm...yeah, Mr. President? Yeah, hey it's Leon. Uhm...I've got some bad news, and promise that you won't be mad, but Ashley won't be coming home. See they tied her up, and there were these guys all around her--and gee, who would have thought that a shot to the pinky finger would have killed her? Not mad, are ya?"
  • Sidnapolis - July 30, 2009 9:59 p.m.

I think you guys made a minor error. I believe it was Alpha team that went in after Bravo in RE1, not the other way around.
