Why she could do it: She’s the next generation Angelina Jolie, she’s got the action chops already (once you’ve been directed by Bay, you never stray) and we’re pretty sure Sam’s head would explode looking at a picture of her as Lara Croft.
Why she might have problem s: Does anyone know if she could do a passable British accent? Lady Croft IS English, don’t forget.
Why she could do it: She’s got form. No, not that form. In her younger days, she was the model for Lara Croft when the game was at its height. So she knows her way around Croft’s togs.
Why she might have problems: She can do action, sure, but her acting is not always… shall we say… her best asset. Still, no one ever said the Tomb Raider movies were thespian showcases.
Why she could do it: Buffy and Angel on TV proved she can handle the running around/fighting aspects with ease and she could likely pull off a passable English accent.
Why she might have problems: She’s a little busy back on TV, working on Joss Whedon’s next anticipated series, Dollhouse. Still, given Whedon’s history with the Fox network, she might be available sooner than anyone thinks…
Why she could do it: If the Pirates films proved anything, it’s that Knightley looks good running about and toting weapons. And she’s English.
Why she might have problems: She’ll need to actually eat to get the muscle tone to play Croft. And her less-than-impressive turn in Domino did nothing to convince her she can pull off an aristocratic arse-kicker.
Why she could do it: Another British actress with Croft in her past – she’s provided the voice for the character in the last few games. And she did the action genre with Spooks.
Why she might have problems: We’re guessing some Hollywood execs will reach right for the age card. And while she’s done some action, she doesn’t have the experience some of the other contenders do.
