I can't wait for this game. The second game was one of the finest ever made. The non regenerating health thing is a suprise though.
  • DignifiedTick - March 1, 2012 11:14 a.m.

You said Max Payne 2 is one of the finest made yet the regenerating health (non-regenerating) is a surprise to you? They're probably going to use Painkillers once again, thus not regenerating. I'm glad they're doing this instead of going all Halo because of modern games all have regenerating health.
  • XanderGC - March 1, 2012 9:25 a.m.

I for one cannot wait for this game. I liked the first two games even though I never liked them enough to own them apparently. The thing about the regenerating health being excluded this time around makes me happy. I feel it has been a crutch that has been overused far too much in this modern day of gaming. Great article Mikel!

Thank you!! I've been waiting for any kind of information about this game and you have definitely satisfied! Can not wait.
  • BladedFalcon - March 1, 2012 11:16 a.m.

"3. Max's Health doesn't regenerate" FUCK YES I mean, it shouldn't be as surprising considering this is how it worked in both previous games. But still, it's refreshing to see Rockstar stay away from the norm and ditch the increasingly boring regen health. I wouldn't have deterred me from playing the game if it had regen health, but it IS nice for it to be non-existing in this one. The challenge will be all the better for it.

Is it just me or is the article not displaying? It is just displaying the little picture slide show that is generally in the picture section under a specific game.
  • A9entOfChaos - March 1, 2012 11:41 a.m.

Edit: Nevermind it poppped up for me finally.
  • Redeater - March 1, 2012 12:01 p.m.

Yes because older games that have sequels made by COMPLETELY different developers are bound to have the EXACT same gameplay mechanics as the previous games. If you would be so kind as to tilt your head up a couple comments you will see how I clearly mentioned that this is the first time I have actually been able to read details about the gameplay. I don't know if your comment was meant to sound so sarcastic so I'll just end there instead of going on a long tangent as to why I expected it to be regenerating health. BTW I have gone through the second game countless times and am very glad to see painkillers returning.
  • Redeater - March 1, 2012 12:03 p.m.

Damn Firefox. That was supposed to be a reply. Oh well, @DignifiedTick Fixed.
  • DignifiedTick - March 1, 2012 6:58 p.m.

It wasn't sarcastic. It was a half-assed sarcastic question because any Max Payne fan would know painkillers are the way to go instead of regenerating health. I'm still very confused on what you're pointing to. I know it's your first time reading about gameplay details (check Youtube for Max Payne 3 Mechanics video! Awesome stuff), I got that part. You know R* won't screw this up. They'll keep the old stuff while adding some new feature that they're keeping a secret. I just know it.

I'm glad the've made him addicted to painkillers because he pops them like sweets though out the first 2 games... I hope V makes a token appreance just like the 2nd one, couple of times lol I completed both of them about 18 times bring on the max statue :-D
  • ultimatepunchrod - March 1, 2012 2:29 p.m.

Glad to hear this is sticking to some older shooter traditions. What you said about the animations has me really excited. Good animation is one of my favorite things in games. I can live with less than great animation, but when you see it done right, it's really awesome. Thanks Mikel, I have to buy this now.

Yo GR, I gotta say I like this style of article-making you've implemented here. Usually your articles read as a paragraph or set of paragraphs punctuated by big pretty pictures. In this way, you keep all the big pretty pictures and the text in one small space, reducing the need for scrolling. Way to cater to the lazy reader within all of us! I for one love reading, especially the stuff you guys usually have to offer, but I understand how some people just couldn't be arsed to scroll down to absorb walls of text and click a next page button to do it again. Some people are just lazy that way, but I guess with this you've alleviated such niggling problems. Cool. I look forward to more stuff like this in the future, and less scrolling. :)

I'm with this guy. Ignore the guys bitching about change. I find this easier to read and The fact that I don't have to load a new page is boner-inducing.

Finally, after years-YEARS!-of screenshots and rumors, I get a new entry in one of my favorite franchises. And, judging from this, I don't think I could've asked for anything more out of a sequel.

    Looking good. Can't wait.
