John Williams talks returning to Star Wars
Ready if called upon…
Composer John Williams is the latest star to give his thoughts on the new Star Wars movies, and sounds open to the possibility of a return, should he be asked.
“Each time we play [the Star Wars theme], I'm reminded of the first time we played it decades ago,” says Williams. “Neither I, nor George, nor anyone else involved thought this would go far, or in a few years there would be a sequel and I'd have to revisit the themes... and years later another trilogy.”
“Now we're hearing of a new set of movies coming in 2015, 2016,” he continues. “So I need to make sure I'm still ready to go in a few years for what I hope would be continued work with George.”
Star Wars: Episode VII made its first major casting coup over the weekend, with the news that Harrison Ford has reportedly signed on to reprise his role as Han Solo. Could Williams be the next old face to rejoin the party?
Directed by J.J. Abrams from a script by Michael Arndt, Star Wars: Episode VII is slated to arrive in the UK in 2015.
