Mark your calendars now, because the release date for one of the year’s most anticipated games has finally been set. Batman: Arkham City, the sequel to GR’s 2009 Game of the Year, hits US store shelves October 18, 2011, and UK stores October 21.

The timing seems pretty good, as this keeps Bats out of the November clusterf**k of releases that include Uncharted 3 and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Plus it feels fitting that a Batman game would come out in the same month as Halloween. To celebrate this news, developer Rocksteady put out a few more screenshots that shed just a sliver of additional light on the still mysterious game.

Stay tuned here for any new Arkham City info, same Bat-time, same Bat-channel! (Does anyone even get that reference these days?)
