19 movies with game names-Slobs of Gaming
I’m always hounding the GR think tank to let me write more movie-based articles. Since my classic feature ideas like “Top 9 Reasons Uwe Boll hates orphans” and “Worst Silent Hill movies ever” have been turned down time and time again, I’ve been left with a drought of possibilities. Further hampering my goal is SlobsofGaming’s excellent article, Completely Unrelated: 19 Movies with Game Names. Author KenTheGreat1 has found a bunch of obscure, older movies that share the same title as popular games such as a Ron Howard-starring Grand Theft Auto and direct to DVD horror flick, Centipede.
Half the fun is reading about how both movie and game are completely different, yet in some way barely relate and wondering if one influenced the other. Kudos to KenTheGreat1 and the ample amount of time spent researching this article. Not to criticize the man, but I woulda gone even further with the movies. Where’s the Mark Wahlberg psychotic teen thriller, Fear, which didn’t inspire the supernatural FPS of the same name. Or what about Shadow Run, the Michael Caine heist thriller that has no connection with that shitty multiplayer 360 game released last summer? How about the 1989 motorcycle gang revenge flick, Hellgate that has nothing to do with MMOs, London or subscription fees?
Hell, if I can’t write a follow-up, then I implore KenTheGreat1 to do so, not only because I’m incredibly lazy, but because it’s articles like these that make the internet a wonderful time waster.
