Syndicate co-op trailer looks at futuristic hostile takeovers

EA's Syndicate looks very different from the RTS that released in the 1993. Beyond having much stronger graphics (as is usually the case when a sequel comes nearly twenty years later), it's a freaking first-person shooter, and not a real-time strategy game. Obviously, die-hard fans of the original were slightly perturbed.

But once you get over that small switcheroo, you're left with an interesting looking shooter from the creators of the popular and well-reviewed Riddick games, and that's something we can certainly get behind. In a new trailer, Starbreeze shows off the game's co-op, though it really doesn't give us much insight into what that co-op will actually entail.

In fact, all it really tells us is that the game's cooperative play will feature four players, and that's something we already knew. Besides that we're completely in the dark. It might be full-blown co-op of the singleplayer story, it could be something more akin to Gears of War's Horde mode, or it could be a different campaign entirely, as was the case with games like Resistance 2 and Uncharted 3.

Even though we're still in the dark on the actual content, the video shows a good deal of the gameplay mechanics, and they look downright slick. Players are shooting enemies, killing them with cool melee attacks, and even pulling off some minor parkour maneuvers like slide-kicks, though we don't know how in-depth those elements be. The last game that tried to shoehorn parkour into a first-person shooter was Brink, and, well, let's just say it didn't work as well as we would have hoped.
