In a move that no one versed in the world of the RAM crisis was shocked by, Sony revealed that the PS5 is getting a price increase. Announced over on its official PlayStation Blog, Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President, Global Marketing, stated that the "continued pressures in the global economic landscape" have resulted in the decision to increase the price of the PS5 Slim, PS5 Pro, and even the PlayStation Plus handheld across the globe.
Both the disc-edition and digital PS5 Slim consoles are increasing by an eye-watering $100. Meanwhile, the already pricey PlayStation 5 Pro is increasing by $150, which means you'll be expected to fork out $899.99 for the privilege of owning the Sony pixel-pusher. The PlayStation Portal wasn't free of these hikes either, and will cost $249.99 in the US when the changes all kick off.
Here's the thing: these prices don't go into effect until April 2. That means you still have a tiny window to grab the PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal at their current prices. So you don't miss out, I've gathered all consoles in one place, so you don't have to scour the internet for the best prices in the limited time you have left.
The official US PS Direct store has the disc-edition PS5 Slim for just $449. This bundle includes the console, its white DualSense controller, and all the usual bits and pieces, but throws in a Fortnite Flowering Chaos Bundle voucher, which includes in-game content and 1,000 V-Bucks. This is a bargain when you consider that V-Bucks also got some recent price changes of their own.

If you don't care much about playing physical games, you can save a bit by grabbing the digital version of the PS5 Slim for $339 at PS Direct instead. The digital version only has 825GB worth of onboard storage, but you'll still get those extra Fortnite goodies. This bundle has sold out at other retailers, so it's worth jumping on for this price while you can.

The PlayStation 5 Pro is gonna be a big investment, no matter which way you cut it. But you can grab the premium Sony console for its current $749 price before April 2 at Amazon if you're fast enough. The optional and official Disc Drive is also still in stock for $79 (Amazon), if you have an existing physical game collection you want to keep playing.

Weekly digests, tales from the communities you love, and more

Ever since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
