I choose you, Gader'el!

If theres one thing to be said about Spicy Horses new mobile game, its not Candy Crush. Part Lost Kingdom, part demonic Pokemon, The Gate is a strange hybrid between what we think mobile games are, and what we know American McGee can do. In fact, much of the team working on this game comes from other McGee titles (like Alice and its sequel, Madness Returns). And this showed in our demo of The Gate with Director McGee himself.

The first thing you have to know is that this takes place in Dantes onion-y version of hell. Ok so youre in Hell, and instead of just sitting there bored for all eternity, you decide to wrangle demons and have demonic cockfights with them. The demons you have are illustrated on cards, and so a part of the game is taking care of your deck. Yet these demon-cards can also grow and level up their stats. Take Yu-Gi-Oh, mix it with Pokemon, throw in a dash of Shin Megami Tensei, and you have yourself the basic gameplay mechanics and themes of The Gate. Theres no release date yet for this mobile game, but you can preregister at their website, playthegate.com to get an exclusive demon card to help you out once the game launches.
