The Worldsoul Saga in World of Warcraft just had its second act in Midnight. One person who definitely isn't a fan is Eric Covington, a former associate quest designer on Blizzard's mammoth MMO.
In an impassioned tweet, he tore down the conclusion of Midnight, snidely comparing the whole thing to an animated show for kids. "Is this what happens without certain voices on the team constantly fighting for plot and pacing?" he starts.
"Where are the stakes?" he adds. "Sunwell and elven unity wrapped up like a Saturday morning cartoon and the villain runs away to cause mischief another day/patch." Included is a picture of Harbinger, a major antagonist, literally saying, "We'll finish this another time, perhaps."

He finishes by saying, "This is Carmen Sandiego," since the central location will now change for The Last Titan, where the real final fight against Harbinger is likely to take place. Though flippant, I can see where he's coming from, since the narrative is remarkably neat for the second part of a trilogy.
The elven armies do indeed come together to defeat the Devouring Host, and the void elves are given special access to Silvermoon after. You can easily imagine this being a big season finale of some cartoon back in the day, building toward what might be the last season (but probably not).
Commenters on Reddit agree with Covington, to a point. "I do wonder where they're going next. It was wrapped up pretty quickly," says one. "I have conceded the fact that Warcraft's story is garbage but they make a hell of an end game that is perpetually fun for me," another adds.
