Cozy airborne survival game Aloft just showed off a new trailer at FGS Live from Gamescom, detailing its final early access expansion, Discovery & Ancestry.
The new update, which drops today, is a massive overhaul to this beautiful-looking game. It offers an entirely new open world, survival conditions that you'll need to overcome, and powerful new character upgrades. Most important (and adorable), however, is the introduction of an ancient companion, a cute wind spirit who'll let you control the conditions around you.
That's important because, as the name Aloft might hint at, that big new open world is not just one flat plain. Instead, there are sky islands scattered all over the place for you to journey between with the help of a glider and that new wind spirit.
Aloft has changed a lot over its time in early access, with four major updates so far. This last one, Discovery & Ancestry, will enable the team to use their new technological bedrock to push towards the full 1.0 release. There's not a current date for that complete launch just yet, but it looks like there's already an awful lot to check out in Aloft, and the world is so beautiful and ripe for exploration that you might find yourself getting lost in it, even without the full experience ready to go just yet. For now, Aloft is currently available on PC via Steam.
