Medieval Dynasty allows players to live their best rustic lives, by founding their own settlements then building them up with the help of recruited residents, to establish a legacy that can be passed on to the next generation. It's been years since a new map was added, but a fresh location is arriving next year – for free – and we just got a better look at it during the Future Games Show at gamescom.
The Backwood is a free DLC releasing in 2027 that will open up a fresh region to explore and find new beginnings, providing an exciting reason for existing players to come back to the game while offering new arrivals another starting point. You can work to reclaim these lands on your own, or join with friends to build your settlement cooperatively.
Harvesting and gathering what you can is key to survival, though you can always buy the items you need – if you have the resources to pay for them. Recruit those that you meet to become your villagers then assign them roles that suit their personality and skills, but remember that they need housing and feeding too. There's also the option to switch to Creative Mode and build freely, where you can let your imagination run wild and make this new world your personal playground.
The Backwood DLC for Medieval Dynasty will arrive for free in Q1 /Q2 2027 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, but for the time being you can wishlist it on Steam, follow on X and Facebook, or join the official Discord to get the latest updates. Don't miss the DLC Hunting Pack, which is launching alongside the free Wild Game update on September 22, 2026.
