INAYAH - Life after Gods follows the journey of Inayah, an orphan seeking out her lost tribe and trying to find her place to belong in a world that is both post-apocalyptic and post-divine, as the gods themselves have fallen. This intriguing and mysterious setting was formed by the collapse of a technologically advanced alien race known as "Forerunners", leaving behind a hostile and challenging environment full of high tech debris to be navigated.
Inayah has been hardened by her survival instincts and is well suited to explore this world, as in addition to being able to run, jump, and dash between platforms she is also equipped with a unique Gauntlet, which opens up fresh traversal skills that can be used to overcome obstacles. She is also joined by her companion drone Sputnik, who can assist with activating mechanisms and solving puzzles to clear the route ahead.
However, it is during the combat in INAYAH - Life after Gods that the Gauntlet reveals its true potential, as players can quickly switch between the three weapon forms – Blades, Flail, and Fists – to access different fighting and movement abilities on the fly. Experimenting with these will open up unique combos and strategies that can be tailored to different enemies, and each weapon form has an extensive skill tree to hone them to your preferred playstyle. With more than 20 individual bosses to eliminate along the way, you'll need to mix things up to defeat them all.
The environment you're exploring has been beautifully hand-drawn with animations crafted frame-by-frame, taking inspiration from animated movies and animes. The high quality art direction makes this handcrafted world a feast for the eyes, and helps it to stand apart from other 2D platformers, while cutscenes blend seamlessly into the action for a cinematic presentation.
The dev team behind INAYAH - Life after Gods includes members with backgrounds from Owlcat, Disney, and Blizzard, using their combined experience to bring you a stunningly presented Metroidvania with tight, responsive combat and challenging boss rushes to put your skills to the test.
