Release date: TBC 2027
A dark fantasy action RPG with no fixed classes, brutal combat, a plethora of skills and gear, and a Shadow Form just waiting to be unleashed.
Showing off a mixture of gameplay and plot cinematics as part of its minute-long reveal trailer at the 2026 August Future Games Show showcase, the voiceover speaks of a dying goddess and a reality beginning to crumble as a result, with a prophecy that speaks of some chosen hero... But that might not be you?
So far we're only getting hints and suggestions at the larger context for all this, but it doesn't mean we can't see the result: namely, armoured warriors slamming their way through hordes of undead and some very nasty-looking giant spiders. Seriously, the game trailer gets a big arachnophobia warning slapped on it in the beginning, and I can see why.
Still, combat looks fast-paced in a way that's likely to appeal to a lot of PC players, and by all accounts Wolcen 2 is keeping the design philosophy of the first game, which does away with classes and instead allows players to have far more control over their character builds.
By all indications right now Wolcen 2 is planned to enter Steam on early access with a targeted release of Q2 2027, using player feedback to inform the game's ongoing development and final form, as well as releasing on current-generation consoles at some as-yet unspecified point.
If you want to know more about the game's development, you can follow the developers, Wolcen Studios, via their official social media channels on Facebook, X, BlueSky and Tiktok.
