James Gunn is known for including Easter eggs in his movies so fans are of course looking forward to finding more references hidden in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your perspective) that hunt will be a little bit easier thanks to a scene which was left on the cutting room floor.
"Unfortunately we had a sort of terrible cutting," Gunn recently told Collider. "One of our scenes we cut was with Grandpa Quill on Earth, and we had a lot of Easter Eggs in that scene. As much as we had in The Collector’s museum, probably more."
So we won't get the scene in theaters, but what about on Blu-ray and DVD? Gunn estimated that less than 20 minutes had been cut from the film, most of which was "fat." Still, he expects that a home release would only feature a few minutes' worth of viewing material, so who knows.
But I wouldn't worry too much - after all, there's still an Easter egg for the first Guardians of the Galaxy that the director says still hasn't been found. Maybe uncover that one first before you worry too much about the sequel's secrets.
And hey, it's not like you won't be getting fan service: Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has five post-credit scenes, and intitial reactions are, unsurprisingly, uber-positive.
