AMC confirms two-season order for Walking Dead companion series

AMC has given the green light to its Walking Dead companion series, with the network announcing it has given a two-season order to the new show.

The new series has yet to receive an official title but will be set in LA during the events of the zombie apocalypse documented in the main show, with a whole new cast of characters battling for survival.

Kim Dickens and Cliff Curtis will take the leading roles in the new show, with support coming from Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.

“We take incredibly seriously the notion of building a satisfying companion series to the number one show on television,” said AMC President Charlie Collier in the official press release.

“From the beginning of The Walking Dead on AMC, we’ve been asked questions about what was going on in other parts of the zombie apocalypse, and what it looked like as the world really did ‘turn.’ Through this new series, we’re going to find out.”

The first season of the new show will be comprised of six one-hour episodes and is expected to arrive late summer, before the second season hits our screens in 2016.
